Sanitary Pad Project
OTYO! (A Sigh of Relief) began work on the sanitary pad project in partnership with TAO (Trust for Africa’s Orphans) UK. Although TAO UK has recently terminated their work, OTYO! (A Sigh of Relief) continues working on this project.
Many impoverished girls in Uganda miss up to 6 days of school each month because they lack access to proper menstruation products, and because of the cultural stigma persisting regarding menstruation.
OTYO! will support this ongoing work in Uganda, and facilitate the eventual expansion of the project into Kebisoni, Rukungiri District, where it will become part of the work we do at the Canon Eric and Faith Bugaari Community Centre. The project will provide girls in the community affordable, reusable pads, and information on safe use; ability to manage menstruation with dignity; improved attendance and retention in school; knowledge of reproductive health; and improved gender equality. Please read the additional information for this partnership and project on our website, and please donate to this and/or other projects. Even a little will have an impact. The youth of these communities need and appreciate your support.
